Day 20
Beat used: Modern Thug by DJ Brace (97 BPM). Taken from a forthcoming exclusive guest beatpack release by DJ Brace coming soon to the Studio Scratches Beat Store. You can sign up to the email newsletter to be notified of this release. I’m really looking forward to this beatpack from Brace!
Scratch Records Used: Symatic Scratch Samples and DJ Vajra – Cuts n Drums.
Background Info
I used the cue buttons on the mixer again to quickly load the samples I wanted to scratch with.
Today’s quote:

Keep practicing!
Reflections On Todays Video
- WOW! Two thirds of the way through this challenge!
- I got to use this new purple Serato Control Record. Loving this colour! Many thanks to Pete at Westend DJ for sorting out last weeks warped record situation.
- I used a few samples that I haven’t used before to switch things up a little.
- The “it’s fresh” and “cut it up fresh” samples were fun to scratch with.
- I felt my scratch techniques were a little repetitive today, but I hope you like the overall vibe.
- I had a limited window to record today’s video and was feeling the pressure!
- Todays lesson – stay relaxed but focused when you have limited time to complete a task.

Your Turn!
If you would like to join me in this challenge throughout October / November, post links to your own practice videos in the comments below. Tag your videos on social networks with #studioscratches and #30DaysOfScratching. You don’t have to do the full 30 days so feel free to dip in and out posting your videos where you want to, but it would be super awesome to have you along as company for the full 30 days! Who knows where you might end up!
If you have a beat suggestion or want to send me cool beats to use in this challenge, please email me via the contact page.
If you have any questions please let me know.
See you tomorrow!
Happy Scratching! 😀
