Day 21
Bonus Video – What to do if your scratch record hole is too big.
Beats used: Pushed Princes and Four & Low by BassVader & Studio Scratches:
Scratch Record Used: Cuts n Drums by DJ Vajra.
Background Info
Today’s beat is from a brand new Studio Scratches release “BassVader Bass n Drums Volume 1“:
Inspired by my love of playing with live funk bands, BassVader supplies the finest bass grooves for you to get your freakin scratch on! Deliberately created with minimal funk bass and drums to compliment your scratching and give you space to funk out!
I’m digging the feel of these ones!
I used a new blue Serato record and as with a lot of vinyl, the record hole was too big. I decided to record my process of fixing this and share it with you as a bonus video. I hope it helps you!
Todays lesson – stay funky, stay fresh! Make sure your record hole is not too loose. This can cause the needle to skip.
Today’s quote:
“The longer you wait for the future the shorter it will be.”

Your Turn!
If you would like to join me in this challenge throughout October / November, post links to your own practice videos in the comments below. Tag your videos on social networks with #studioscratches and #30DaysOfScratching. You don’t have to do the full 30 days so feel free to dip in and out posting your videos where you want to, but it would be super awesome to have you along as company for the full 30 days! Who knows where you might end up!
If you have a beat suggestion or want to send me cool beats to use in this challenge, please email me via the contact page.
