Hey folks!
Welcome to Day 7 of 30 Days of Scratching. For a full overview and instructions on how to join in please visit 30 Days of Scratching Day 1.
Day 7
Beat used: New Year’s Resolution Instrumental by Madlib.
Scratch Record Used: Digital Skipless Scratch Record Volume 1
Background Info
I always enjoy scratching to this instrumental which features a great David Axelrod sample.
I have looped up pretty much the the whole track, just excluding the intro.
I used Serato Scratch Live to record and play the beat and samples.
Reflections On Todays Video
- Today I shifted my recording schedule to the afternoon so I could produce a new digital skipless scratch record in the morning, featuring some new samples to use in this video. This took me a while as I am still getting to grips with Logic Pro X after upgrading from Logic Pro 9. Things that were second nature like keyboard shortcuts have changed and I had to do some “just in time learning” to get this done. I got there in the end!
- It took me a few takes today before I was able to capture something that I was happy with. The first take I was relying on natural lighting but the sun went in and the video was a bit dark so I shot it again.
- Todays lesson – Persevere!

You don’t have to do the full 30 days so feel free to dip in and out posting your videos where you want to, but it would be super awesome to have you along as company for the full 30 days! Who knows where you might end up!
