Ask Short-e – What Record?

July 22, 2010

Kicking off the first in the “Ask Short-e” series. First question is from David:

Hi dj short- e. I really liked your video tutorials. Im a newbie at turntables and im looking to improve on it with the right records to scratch. I heard most beginners prefer longer sample. Im just wondering that sample record did you use on the chirp flare tutorial video. I might buy it if they have it online and practice with it. Thanks.

David

Hey David

Glad you liked the tutorials.

I used superseal by thudrumble / qbert / dirtstyle in the chrip flare tutorial:

“Ahhhhh” is a great sound to start with as it is a long sample. This gives you more time to carry out the scratch. Superseal is skipless so it’s good for learning. That sample is on most battle / scratch records also.

Hope that helps!
