School of Scratch student Pawel aka Tam Taramtam recently completed a 50 week scratch challenge where he recorded a short freestyle scratch session video once a week for 50 weeks.
The idea was to track his progress and also to inspire and motivate others to keep going.
Here’s what he said about the challenge and then you can watch his videos after:
“Since I joined the school , I’ve learned few techniques and combos, but more importantly, I’ve learned a lot about myself.
You may not realize , but all you SoS members helped me a lot with that project. I’m notorious for starting something and never finishing it. I’m sure that without your support and encouragement it would be same story with my 50 weeks project.
It is very important to me , because it is prove to myself that I can get stuff done if i only keep going and don quit at the first sight of problems ?
Thank you all for giving me the push, I hope you enjoyed the whole thing.”
Huge congrats to Pawel for consistently showing up and making progress as a result. You are an inspiration!
Here are some of his videos so you can see what he got up to.
Final Week 50 Video
An inspiring message to anyone who is learning the art of scratching.

Lyrics: Chris Hardwick Tuning into Science on TV, Startalk Radio podcast.
And what I learned is that anyone that you see, that you think, well they’ve got it covered, they must have had a natural ability, you’re really robbing them of how much work they put into making something look easy.
Someone said something to me once that’s resonated with me forever, and it’s a boxing metaphor of all things, but they said: “Line, speed, beauty”.
You have to learn the line behind something, you get that down, then you can master speed and then you can make it beautiful, but it takes so much work to get to that point, so I always tell people don’t ever be discouraged if you don’t get something right away. You will get it if you stick to it. There’s no secret to that, it’s just, stick to it, you know, everyday incremental change, and over time it becomes formidable.
I absolutely love this and it is so true! Stick with it!
