After some requests for the audio of the DJ Brace video featured here last week, I spoke to Brace to see if there was anyway we could have the audio. He has very kindly provided the mp3 for Studio Scratches readers.
I also asked him about how he approaches his work so you can get a bit of an insight into his process:
“When performing my live songs I like to reinterpret them by scratching as much of the song that I can. I am far more comfortable performing my songs this way as the turntable is the main instrument I play.
First I decide what I’m going to scratch when I perform the song, then I subtract that from the mix in the original song.
The result is a scratch routine that changes every time as I do not do the exact same cuts each performance. However the notes remain the same.”
