Hey!
It’s already one week since School of Scratch opened.
Thanks to everyone signed up!
I just wanted to give you an update and an insight into what’s happening over in the School, what I am currently focusing on and what you can expect to see on the Studio Scratches site moving forward.
School of Scratch Launch
The launch went really well and it’s been great to see people signing up from all over the world.
I’ve been getting to know members in the community and live chat.
Everyone is positive and friendly and we have been sharing videos and tips. I really love it! It inspires me and I am learning just as much as the students.
My focus for the School as you might imagine, is the ongoing production of weekly videos to high standard. Plus improving my teaching and video production skills.
My weekly schedule involves planning and researching for new videos to make sure I explain concepts as clearly and simply as possible, recording, editing and posting.
Also, dropping into the School community forums and live text chat to answer student questions and make sure everything is running smoothly.
Studio Scratches Site update
I’ve made some small tweaks to the site here:
The home page now features post excerpts, which give you an overview of each article, so there is less scrolling on the home page. You simply click to read more.
I cleaned up the sidebar and got rid of all the ads for beats, if you want them, I think you know where they are.
Your viewing experience matters to me.
I recently removed all ads from my free YouTube video tutorials. I feel strongly that ads ruin the user experience – I want you to be able to watch my free content smoothly and without seeing another (*******) HostGator advert!
The revenue the ads generated was useful and helped me to keep making content, but I refuse to do that at the expense of your viewing experience.
Similarly, I do not run ads on the site and I never will. I am an independent creator. My goal is to create value for you. If you appreciate what I do and would like to reward my efforts, the best thing you can do is sign up for the School of Scratch, where I hope you will get even more value in return!
Studio Scratches Focus
Now that I’m making video tutorials for School of Scratch, you might be wondering what will be on this site?
My goal is to help you with your scratch learning and practice.
I plan to do this by creating:
- Articles that help you with your approach to learning and practicing the art of scratching.
- Videos – quick tips and tricks.
- Interviews
- Features of scratch related resources that I think can help you, or that are just plain cool!
Right now my time is taken up teaching, which is where I feel I create the most impact. I love making beats, but as beats are mostly freely available, it’s not as important as sharing knowledge.
Of course nothing is set in stone; I am always open to change and to switching things up, so stay tuned.
I hope that gives you an idea of what to expect going forwards. Now that the launch has calmed down, I am getting back to creating more content for the Studio Scratches site and have much to share.
I recommend joining the mailing list to be notified whenever new content is released on the site, which from now on will be every Monday and Thursday.
Thanks so much for being part of Studio Scratches!
Happy Scratching! 😀
