Ultimate Scratch Samples

July 15, 2013

Hey folks!

I noticed recently that my Digital Skipless Scratch Records are proving quite popular with more and more of you asking me about which scratch samples to use when practicing.

I have bundled all 4 of my current digital skipless scratch records into one product that contains most of the samples that you hear me scratch with in my scratch tutorials. It is also priced $5 cheaper than buying the individual records.

Here are all the details, audio previews and a deeper look at why I created this series:

Ultimate Scratch Samples

Why Do I Use Digital Skipless Scratch Records?

In the past, I have used digital scratch tools that contain 100s of samples in a sequential order. Although I do like these sometimes for random practice, and Serato technically allows me to make any sound skipless when using relative mode, it always takes me time to sift through find the samples I really like to scratch with.

Although Serato has cue points which you can use to ‘remember’ where a certain sound is, it is limited to just 5 cue points. A typical multisample scratch tool might have 20 – 30 samples that I really like but it can be difficult to find them. I don’t like sifting through a whole heap of sounds!

With digital skipless scratch records, It becomes much easier to know exactly which sounds are contained on each individual track 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. I can memorise which track contains which sample. An example of this is Superseal vinyl. I know that ‘Ahhh’ is on track 1, ‘Fresh’ is on track 2 and ‘Funky Fresh / Ah Yeah’ is on track 12.  Over the years I have gotten to know the sounds that are on superseal inside and out. I can simply drop the needle anywhere on the track that contains the repeating skipless sample and I start scratching immediately. I spend less time looking at the computer screen and more time scratching. It is very easy to skip through each track and find a sample to practice with.

So for this reason I created Digital Skipless Scratch Records. Ultimate Scratch Samples includes over 20 of my favourite sample sounds set up as repeating skipless tracks that you can get to know along with the use of the downloadable cheat sheet It is my hope that it helps you spend more time scratching and less time hunting for scratch samples!

Until next time…

Happy Scratching! 😀
